Cross-Cultural Competence: Leveraging Diversity in Your Organization

Changing demographics have dramatically transformed the face of our country in the last 10 years as they did since the turn of the century.  Incumbent to our role as influencers in the communities we serve is the need to increase our cultural competence that brings awareness to our biases and assumptions.  Applied further, cultural competence develops a set of congruent skills, behaviors, knowledge and attitudes that enable professionals to build upon varying cultural and community norms in order to understand how each person’s differences make them unique.

In this interactive session, you will gain insight into your own cultural knowledge and experience how they play out in varying interactions. Drawing from Advocate Health Care’s cultural competence approach, you will learn its application to the healthcare provider workplace and in the delivery of care to patients.
